Job requirements
- Must be at least 17 years old.
- Must attest in writing that they are physically able to perform carpenter work, including working on scaffolds and in confined spaces; working in rain, snow, cold, heat, and direct sunlight; performing constant repetitive motions; climbing and working from heights; lifting at least 50 lbs.; and standing and stooping for prolonged periods.
- Must pass a drug test at the sponsor’s expense after selection and before enrollment in apprenticeship. If the applicant tests positive, they cannot reapply for one year.
- Must live in the geographical jurisdiction of the North Atlantic States Carpenters Training Fund, including the listed counties in New York State, and excluding Nassau, Suffolk, and the five borough counties of New York City.
- Must be willing to travel to job sites in various counties within the jurisdiction.
- Must be willing to attend required classes at the approved school and travel to various locations statewide.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from various job sites and required classes at the approved school.
- Must provide a military transfer card or discharge form DD-214, if applicable, after selection and prior to enrollment in apprenticeship.
