Job requirements
- Must be at least 17 years old.
- Must attest in writing that they are physically able to perform the work of a Carpenter, including working on scaffolds and in confined spaces, working in inclement weather, performing constant repetitive motions, climbing and working from heights, lifting at least 50 lbs., and standing and stooping for prolonged periods.
- Must pass a drug test, at the expense of the sponsor, after selection and prior to enrollment in apprenticeship. If the applicant tests positive, they cannot reapply for one year.
- Must be willing to attend required classes at the approved school.
- Must have reliable means of transportation and be willing to travel to and from various job sites and required classes at the approved school.
- Must live in the geographical jurisdiction covering Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming, Monroe, Livingston, Wayne, Ontario, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tompkins, Yates, Seneca, Cayuga, Cortland, Onondaga, Madison, Oswego, Broome, Delaware, Chenango, Otsego, Tioga, Oneida, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties.
- Must provide military transfer card or discharge form DD-214, if applicable, after selection and prior to enrollment in apprenticeship.
